A Taste of Italy: Cooking & Culture
Join us for a hands-on culinary adventure where food meets history! Led by EEE educator and food historian Sarah Bousfield, this interactive experience takes young food explorers on a journey through the rich traditions of Italian cooking. From fresh pasta to handmade pizza, we’ll uncover the stories behind beloved dishes while learning the art of using simple, wholesome ingredients. Through cooking and garden activities, kids will spark creativity, build confidence in the kitchen, and discover the joy of bringing food to life. Mangia!
Meet Our Culinary Educator, Sarah Bousfield
Sarah Bousfield first learned how to bake on a 1882 wood burning stove at her local living history museum while working as a historical interpreter. Over the past 12 years she has travelled the world cooking at archaeological sites and museums, bringing to life prehistoric and historic recipes. Sarah is a current MA Public History graduate student at the University of Central Florida where she continues her love of foodways through research on the Industrial Revolution and its impacts on kitchen technology.
