Meet our guest educator, Chef Crystal

Chef Crystal Clarke’s culinary journey began in her early years, emphasizing flavors and quality ingredients. With over 20 years in the field and a foundation from Johnson & Wales University, her work spans notable places like Le Chambord & The Bistro, Freemason Abbey Restaurant, both Hyatt Regency Reston and Grand Cypress. Crystal’s passion lies in creating a Southern Comfort environment, blending Southern flavors with French refinement. Influenced by culinary greats like Anthony Bourdain, Thomas Keller, and inspired by her grandmother, she leads, teaches, and learns, fostering a deep appreciation for diverse cultures and ingredients. Her roots in Virginia, cooking with her grandmother Ollie, instilled the importance of using the best ingredients and cherishing humble beginnings. Sunday afternoons were filled with mixing cakes, biscuits, and jams, influenced by Southern traditions and the artistic vibes of Zora Neale Hurston, Johnny Cash, and Patsy Cline. From those simple times, Crystal’s culinary journey flourished into a profound appreciation for life’s essentials: music, food, and people.
